We are thrilled renowned and award winning Ridgefield resident Mary Harold has donated a special work of art for our 2024 Annual Art Raffle Fundraiser to help fund our educational programs and events.Mary has loved being behind the lens since the age of 9 when she got her first Kodak Brownie camera. Her focus in fine art photography is to capture the absurd, obvious, decay, and beauty that others do not see. B/W, color, HDR, light, dark – there is always something to be captured.Mary’s work has been exhibited extensively throughout the region. Awards have been received from The Flinn Gallery in Greenwich and the Rowayton Arts Center. Her work has also been shown at The Katonah Museum, The New Britain Museum of American Art, The Fairfield Museum and History Center, The Bendheim Gallery, Ridgefield Guild of Artists, Westport Arts Center, Carriage Barn, Soho Photo Gallery, Ferguson Library, Wilton Library, Ridgefield Library and is in many private collections.  Her work has also been published in many newspapers and magazines. Presently, she is a long time Board member and Vice President of the Ridgefield Guild of Artists and is a member of the Westport Arts Center, Westport Arts Collective, Rowayton Arts Center, and the Carriage Barn.  She is a curator at the Kershner Gallery in Fairfield and also is the Co-Organizer of the Ridgefield Shutterbugs photography group which is sponsored by the Ridgefield Library. She has been a juror at the Tree Festival at the Lounsbury House in Ridgefield, the annual Bruce Museum Fine Arts Festival in Greenwich and the Westport Fine Arts Festival. She is also a fundraiser for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation in Fairfield County.Artist StatementI express my artistic vision through photography and view the world as a visual treat with its colors, textures, patterns and abstractions.  Behind the lens is the base negative that transforms and metamorphizes into the song of what my heart sees.  The computer has transformed photography into a revolutionary art form with all of its complexities.Mary has lived in Ridgefield for over thirty years and can be reached at maryharoldphotography@gmail.com.Fran Walton, President of the LWV of Ridgefield said:  “Mary is the 9th artist from the Ridgefield Guild of Artists who has donated an exquisite work of art to the Ridgefield League. Proceeds from the sale of raffle tickets allow the League to continue to provide educational programs and events of interest to the community.”  Raffle tickets for Railway Car may be purchased online here for $5 each. Each year, an artist donates an exquisite work of art to the Ridgefield League of Women Voters to be raffled off.
